Teme Valley Green Hop Festival        September 2005

This little advertised festival was at Knightwick. A settlement consisting of a church, pub and about fifteen houses. The pub, the Talbot is also home to Teme Valley Brewery, who hosted the event.

"
Welcome again to our eighth beer festival. We present 10 green hop beers - fewer than in previous years. As more hop yards are taken out of production, hop harvest becomes shorter and the window of opportunity to brew with fresh hops is reduced. This makes it harder for busy craft brewers to add a green hop beer to their schedule.
Craft brewers are very busy at the moment despite the large number of breweries - over 500 breweries are now in production in the UK.
We offer beer from 2 new local breweries, Kinver and Mayfield, which weren't up and running this time last year, as well as new beers from local breweries.
Thanks to everyone for help in running this festival

Next year's festival: 6 th 7 th & 8th October 2006"  -----------(Make a note)

The farms that the hops came from, were named and included one behind the pub.
We tried all Teme Valley's green hop beers which were:-

Fuggle 4.1%
Amos'Earlybird Goldings 4.1%
Northdown 4.1%
Mathon Goldings 4.1%
Challenger 4.1%

I thought as they were all the same strength that they might be the same recipe but with different hops added. I asked the brewer, but they weren't, pity, it would of been an interesting comparison. All were hoppy, but our favourite was Northdown.

Also available were 8 other Teme Valley beers and beers from
Cannon Royall Full Steam Ahead 4.1%
Church End Boston Fat Boy 5%
Corvedale Green Hop 4.9%
Hobson's Mild 3.2%
Kinver Edge 4.2%
Malvern Hills Green Pear 3.7%
Mayfield Pioneer 3.9%
Oakleaf Green Gold 4.3%
Spinning Dog Organic 4%
Wadworth Malt & Hops 4.5%
Weatheroak Keystone Hops 5.1%

We went on Sunday because there was an excellent Farmer's Market on in the car park and bought 3 locally made cheeses, a sheeps, a goats and a cows.
The only trouble with going on the last day of any festival is they have always run out of the beers you most want to try, - Green Pear and Spinning Dog unfortunately.
